Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
